I have always believed in promoting education and supporting education at all levels. Since being in Perry now for about 7 months, I have had the privilege of speaking to a business class at DMACC and work with the Greenlee Journalism School of Journalism and Communications who has taken on our hotel for a class project. I have also met some great kids at Perry High School who allowed me the chance to speak to them recently at a Job Fair Day.
The thing that I love about these great opportunities is how relationships blossom. What do I mean by this? Well, we’ve met a great student out of the DMACC Class who has taken on our hotel for a Photography Class. She has since sent us some great pictures that we can use for promotion. She was elated to use our hotel and we are certainly more than pleased to have some great new professional photos.
Out of our relationship with the Greenlee Journalism School of Journalism and Communication, we have two Senior Students who start this week and will be completing their internship with us. This is very, very exciting for us and for these two young women who will be achieving hands on experience with Social Media, Public Relations, Writing and Photography.
Why did I choose to write about this? Well, we as business professionals need to engage with the student population to give them the access and experience they need to become our next generation of business leaders. I can tell you that this is a very rewarding experience!
