In 2014, I didn’t have the chance to be a part of RAGBRAI as we were still ramping up things at the Hotel Pattee and I simply couldn’t get away. This year was a different story. Earlier this spring, I had the privilege of meeting Jay Kennedy and Meg Hill with Team Good Beer.
We decided to be one of their sponsors and prepare lunch and dinner for their team on Tuesday. What a great group of people! Denise and I met so many nice folks and they were so appreciative of our meals and service. We met them in Alden, IA on Tuesday and prepared lunch and then met them in Eldora Tuesday evening for dinner. We served locally produced Iowa products ranging from Brewer
Family Farms and their awesome brats, to Grimes Sweet Corn. After we were done serving dinner, we sat back and enjoyed some great music from The Nadas.
The cool thing was that Tuesday night’s festivities were held at a Host Home and the band set up on
their large deck. What a blast!
I am still on cloud nine! I simply cannot get over the fantastic organization of the ride. Everything ran so
smoothly and was organized so well. The vast number of volunteers and participants just blew my socks off. To say the least, I can’t wait until next year and I also can’t wait until the ride comes through Perry again sometime in the future.
If you haven’t seen and/or stayed in our RAGBRAI/BRR Room at the Hotel Pattee, you may want to put this on your bucket list. Recently, I met the folks at Dream Team Des Moines and they donated some special jersey’s that we had made into Pillows. That is another great organization!!!
Iowa is such a great place to live and visit. I have had the privledge of attending one iconic event this
week with RAGBRAI and tonight we kick off another great event at the National Balloon Classic in Indianola. We are a Sponsor of The National Balloon Classic and will have our own Hotel Pattee Hot Air Balloon!
I will be there all 9 days with our Hotel Pattee Diner Concession Trailer. Come see us!
