As we approach April, we are getting into what is known as wedding season. It’s my absolute favorite time of the year! Wedding season is typically known as April through December with the most popular months being June, August, September and October. This is definitely true at the Hotel Pattee! We have most Saturday’s booked for June, September and October 2014 weddings.
My wedding tip of the week: Late night appetizer bar.
Several of my brides are asking me if 4:30-5:00pm is too early for dinner service. My answer is absolutely not, but consider an appetizer bar later in the evening. For example, their wedding ceremony is scheduled to start at 3:00pm with cocktail hour beginning at 3:30pm. A typical cocktail hour lasts 45 to 60 minutes; you won’t want to keep your guests waiting any longer than 90 minutes. This leaves dinner service to start between 4:30pm and 5:00pm. Many brides are concerned their guests will get hungry before the evening is over. My solution: late night appetizer bar! This can be something simple such as cookies and milk that come out at 9:00pm or you can go all out with shrimp cocktail, caprese skewers or a themed appetizer bar. The options are endless, but this is something to keep in mind when you serve dinner early. It will give your guests an extra boost and get them back on the dance floor!
