Tom and Vickie Maxwell
Tom and Vickie Maxwell purchased the historic Hotel Pattee on March 1, 2018. After reviewing several other hotel properties, the Maxwells absolutely fell in love with the Hotel Pattee. The rich history and uniqueness of the property was why they chose to move forward with the acquisition.
Tom retired from the medical implant industry at the end of 2016. He had a successful career as the owner of Midwest Medical Group, LLC and felt the time was right to sell his distribution rights. He plans to be on property at least 15 days per month and will spend time and resources to support other groups and charities in the Perry area.
Vickie currently owns and operates Fitness & Fun, LLC and the Dazzler Dance Company. Her love for kids fits perfectly into her desire to own a dance studio. Dazzler Dance Company is a competitive dance team with kids age 5-18 participating. Her business also offers tumbling and will soon start a Dazzler Dance Company Competitive Cheer Team.
Tom & Vickie are very excited to be part of the Perry family and very excited about the future of the Hotel Pattee.
Combining her passion for food, events and music she transitioned into the restaurant industry. She worked at one of New York’s finest restaurants, Macelleria—meaning Butcher Shop, in Italian—where she discovered her love and obsession for Italian cuisine and appreciation from scratch cooking.
In 2016, Katie and her husband relocated back to Iowa, a state known for its up and coming food scene and fantastic livability. Returning to her family and mid-west roots to open her first restaurant, Harvey’s Diner & Pub, in Redfield Iowa, she developed a menu with recipes that fit her small-town limits, sticking with ingredients she could find and celebrate locally. Katie’s food is rustic but extravagant with understandable and from scratch ingredients. A recovering New Yorker, she loves combining her east-coast ideas to mid-west recipes.
Harvey’s Diner & Pub’s accessibility, atmosphere and creative cuisine parlayed into an opportunity that presented itself in Perry, Iowa at the historic Hotel Pattee. Katie moved her restaurant to the historic hotel in December 2018 where she is the current Executive Culinary and Director.
Katie found her passion for food and cooking as a second career. Upon graduation, she moved to New York City and attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy – studying musical theater, vocal production, film/TV and dance. Following a theater career on and off-Broadway Katie reached a decision that would change the direction of her life.
